    Kb4023057

    Hello,
Recently ran CCleaner, in the installed programs found (strange) KB4023057, it was installed unknowingly 4 days ago. Made a search in microsoft updates catalog, it is a "not found" item.
It is not listed in the installed updates list, shell I uninstall it ?
    Answers will be appreciated.
    Thanks

What little I found on the 'net indicates it is for Version 1507 or 1511. Your System specs show you have Version 1511 but doesn't give the Build number.

We have had a Version Upgrade since yours of Nov. 2015 called Version 1607 for July 2016 or known as the Anniversary Update.

The latest is Version 1703 from March of 2017 known as the Creators Update which I have and is at Build 15063.483.

There's to be another Version Upgrade this fall/autumn.

This update seems unusual in that it has only been seen in a few select regions. It is not listed in the Windows 10 update history, but there is a KB article for it in all languages...

Update to Windows 10 Version 1507 and Version 1511 for update reliability: June 21, 2017

    Summary

This update includes reliability improvements that affect the update components in Windows 10 Version 1507 and Windows 10 Version 1511.
This update includes files and resources that address issues that affect the update processes in Windows 10. These improvements ensure that quality updates are installed seamlessly to improve the reliability and security of Windows 10.

    How to get this update

Only certain builds of Windows 10 Version 1507 and Windows 10 Version 1511 require this update. Devices that are running those builds will automatically get the update downloaded and installed through Windows Update.
    • Update replacement information
This update replaces the previously released update KB4022868.
    • The key information there seems to be "Only certain builds of Windows 10 version 1507 and Windows 10 version 1511 require this update".

    Microsoft updated the KB4023057:
"Update to Windows 10 Versions 1507, 1511, and 1607 for update reliability: November 2, 2017"

Files included are dated September 2017 with a June 2017 .xml file.
I see in the list this update KB4023057 v.2.3.3 installed 8/28/2017. From another thread here it could be to prepare for a major build update might be why in Apps.
I upgraded from 1607 to 1709, I see that rempl.xml and rempl.exe are in c:\Programs\rempl\ - two of the four anyways.

I just spotted I have a c:\programs\rempl folder. What is it for and can I delete it?

the KB4023057 update now applies to certain versions of 1507, 1511, 1607, and 1703 as it was revised in March 2018.
this update is becoming annoying as the KB2952664 update for Win7 and the KB2976978 update for Win8.1 like a bad headache. grrrrrrr.

must use wushowhide.diagcab tool to hide newer versions of KB4023057

The question is, how do I uninstall it? When I click on "uninstall updates" the "Quality Updates" are not listed any more.

They are now using this to sneak/force the 1803 (the one that removes LAN functionality) update onto my 1709 system.

This is the second time I've had to yank my Ethernet cable while I remove the new task (search rempl in task scheduler) and go through the steps to take control over the c:\program files\rempl folder so I can delete it.

As it still shows as installed, I can't use wushowhide to hide it.

    It would appear not...

...that is if Microsoft's description can be taken at face value. This update appears from its description to be a 'sleeper' app that will only be used as and when you do get the update to 1803. From the KB article...

When Windows update is available for your device, devices that do not have enough disk space may see a message on the Windows Update page asking you to free up space by removing any files and apps that are not used regularly. Select “Fix issues” to free up disk space for the update to install.
    KB4023057 installed as program - Windows 10 Forums - Post #7

It appears that this KB4023057 is a 'helper app' that will only run after the update to 1803 has downloaded and is about to install, and then only if you are short on disk space.

The question is, how do I uninstall it? When I click on "uninstall updates" the "Quality Updates" are not listed any more.
They are, as '...Update for Microsoft Windows (KB********)' but this one isn't like other updates, it's actually installed as an app and can be uninstalled as one.

    Hello,
This KB4023057 update starts to drive me crazy : found it on 'apps and features' as a program, uninstalled it, it still is on the installed updates. Made a search in the computer, found the real kb4023057 cab file in the windows\softwaredistribution folder, sent it to the recycle bin and deleted it. Then I was asked to restart, restarted and got in the installed updates list "succesfully installed" (while being offline). Going back online the whole thing starts again "there is an update waiting..." , found a new file in mentioned folder "AM_Delta_Patch_1.273.266.0.exe" and 'waiting for install' still annoying.
Do not know what to do, cannot be all the time offline.
    Answers please
    Thanks

I would say you just have to let it install, it is installed on my system and not having any problem (for now) why do you want to uninstall it ?
