Cumulaitve Update KB4025342 causing errors in Update Troubleshooter

I installed this update through Windows Update yesterday on my Asus laptop and my parents' Acer desktop. On mine, the CU failed to install but with a retry it worked. After it installed, I ran the Windows Update Troubleshooter, and came back with there errors:

Potential Windows Update Database Error Detected
    Service Registration missing or corrupt
    Windows Update database corruption.

I ran it on the Acer and the same errors were found.

So, I choose the Fresh Start option on the Asus which worked perfectly. I ran the troubleshooter again, found no problems. Reinstalled this update, but had to restart because it got stuck on downloading. After that no problems installing but the troubleshooter came back with those same errors.

The only thing I can figure is that the update is causing it but I'm not sure what to do.

One other user reported sthg similar.

Also check the relevant thread (one on each update) in the News section.

I am reluctant to try that but I haven't found any other possible solution to this.

Thank you so much for any help you can give me!

Noticed someone else in the other thread is having almost the same issue. It's a relief to see I'm not the only one.

I ran into a problem with my Surface Pro 3 when the update was released, and none of my repair efforts did anything to fix Windows Update. Then I tried the Windows Update MiniTool (WUMT). It not only worked, but it also showed me a problem with the latest Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool (MSRT). Long story short: it helped me get WU working again on that PC. Might be worth a try in your case, too. Read more about it in my blog post: WUMT Rescues Win10 Release Preview 15063.483 - Windows Enterprise Desktop.

Since Patch Tuesday is next week, I've been back to looking for a solution to this problem. Sadly, still no luck.

Today's CU installed without problems on my ASUS laptop. Ran the Update Troubleshooter and no problems were found. Ran it twice to make sure and no errors were reported.

I guess the report last month was a bug or something?

Nevermind. Ran the troubleshooter again and the errors are back. Got my hopes up. Back to looking for a fix.
