Windows 10 update freezes computer

The last couple of days, I keep getting notices for a huge update, I click to start the update and while it is installing, it reboots a couple of time, then nothing, just a black screen. Computer still on but froze up...

I hold the off/on switch until it goes out.. I reboot the machine, a screen comes back up saying it is reverting back to latest version..

Been going through this now for two days..Tried running the Microsoft trouble shooting and repair, says all is OK..Try to update once m ore same thing..

Tried rebooting and continue hitting F5 for safe mode, nothing, starts normally..

This machine was windows 7 at one time, I fought it until the last before upgrading. I sometimes wonder why..

Any ideas as how I can get this update installed with out a freeze up.

Came out 100% OK

From an admin command prompt
[Windows key + X, click command prompt (admin)]
chkdsk C: /F
Your PC will need to restart.
Post back the result, which you can get after a restart as follows:
How do I see the results of a CHKDSK that ran on boot? - Ask Leo!
Make sure the result is clear or fixed- else do not proceed.

Your system files
From an admin command prompt
SFC /SCANNOW
and report the summary result.

The exact error message of the upgrade failure would help.

Something about not being able to update, reverting back to latest version.

I would guess the update is the new Creator's Upgrade, the next major build.
I would advise you act defensively and wisely, and create (or update) a disk image of your system. A few people have significant difficulty with the replacement of the whole of Windows.

From what I can find, I'd say yes.

E.g. Macrium Reflect (free) + its boot medium + external storage (e.g. 1-2Tb) for disk image sets; option Backup, Windows Backup.
