    hi this is a clean install of 1703. the only change is unchecking programs in start menu. it is still downloading at 0%. i ran troubleshooter. internet service is good 16gb. i scheduled a call with microsoft tech yesterday. he modified my admin rites, so i can delete programs in software distribution. it was working ok then. thank you pothound

    Once you click on y (yes), all versions should install ASAP.

    Probably not, since it is just a different GUI for the same thing, but give it a try.

    i let a tech from microsoft do a clean install 1703. i personally want to do a clean install. i know there are several ways. would you recommend your best way. it might fix this problem. thank you pothound

    Good. I use ccleaner before updating my Macrium backup- no problems.

    So now's the time to do just that- create a disk image to external storage using e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) option Backup, Windows Backup, and thereafter keep that updated by differential imaging (faster, smaller file).
