Windows 10 "Updates are available" - Is there a fix?

Once again this "Updates are available" popup comes up on my screen, locking me out of completing what I was doing and messing me up.

I was right in the middle of renaming a file. This popup comes up and I have to click on it to get it to go away. But unfortunately, the file I was renaming wasn't complete and saved with the wrong name, and I was renaming it within a file save dialog so I could do that and save a different file under its previous name. But that wasn't going to happen because of this ridiculous popup!

    I've looked but haven't seen a resolution.

Has anyone found a way to stop Windows 10 from popping up these "Updates are available" interruptions?

It wouldn't be a big deal if it didn't take over the darn screen and keyboard (you can't do anything else until you click that popup button!!!)

I like Win10 with the exception of it forcing itself down my throat with this update thing.

    TIA

Hi, this is what I use to set Windows update to notify only.

The link there should give you a full explanation of what's happening- it sets a group policy setting.

    (3 & 4)

I have no popups and no unexpected restarts.

The tweak tool is free, reputable; it's just a convenience rather than using a registry edit or group policy setting.

Also note as per my spec I use the AU not the Creator's Update.
