Hi guys. Just wondering if anybody else is having the same issue today with Windows Update? I've installed 3 Defender updates ok after a few times of trying but its taking an awfully long time to search for anything and sometimes it will either say something along the lines of "We're unable to download updates at the moment but error code is 0x8024401c" or something similar.
Just wondering if its just me?
Same here, searching takes a very long time. Got the error message as well, but it worked after trying a few times.
That's good glad it's not just me. I've noticed too that it will say Last Checked for updates a few minutes before it has actually finished
Same here since a couple of hours. Sadly enough, the error description was very cryptic. Normal advice is to try repairing Windows update. Which I did. Bad idea, because in this proces a connection with the Windows update servers is needed. Which fails and creates a big mess. Had to put back an image from last week. Updates still,don't work, allthough on one system here I managed to have a succesful check. It took a long time though. All in all: why on earth does Microsoft not implement user readable dialogs???? If Windows update would have mentioned MS updates servers are not reachable or overloaded it would have saved me hours of work.
After midnight local time it started all working here again. Wise lesson learned: don't treat Windows update errors as local events anymore. Although Windows tries to make you believe that. If I would have realized this earlier, it would have saved me some hours. I couldn't imagine it would take MS about 8 hours to make their update servers running again. Now I know that is an option, next time I will just patiently but irritated wait a day. I also understand now why their update repair tool hang and didn't proceed: it was looking for the non available Update servers. What a wonderful service...
