Latest processors denied Win 7/8.1 updates

Ok, it's not Win 10, but the argument is that this could be a move to promote Win 10 uptake.

someone at Microsoft decided to deny Windows 7/8.1 updates to the users of the following CPU architectures: Intel seventh (7th)-generation processors (Kaby Lake); AMD "Bristol Ridge" (Zen/Ryzen); Qualcomm "8996."

Same scare like when Skylake was being released, I bet it will be fixed one way or another. Methinks it's to discourage owners of new computers to revert to W7. MS is trying to eradicate W7 altogether so they don't have to support it any more 'cause it costs them money. On the other hand most W10 detractors and W7 lowers oppose mandatory/forced updates so they will probably not miss these ones.
Although I relegated my W7 to a "spare" OS and for some games, I haven't updated it in years, actually since time I started using W8.1 full time. Still nothing wrong with it.

When did Microsoft promise to support new hardware that was released years after Windows 7 was anyway?

No they did not but still W7 would work, it's only damn updates MS chose not to supply. Not really end of world as we know it.

In particular Defender AV definitions which is a legitimate complaint. Potentially I suppose.

I think most people who complain about this just don't like MS or just like to moan.

I've not seen a complaint from someone who actually has bought a new Kaby Lake system (or Ryzen I guess) and truly wants to run W7 and thus has a problem.

Just moaning for the sake of it I reckon.

Must be like that because W7 doesn't contain everything to make full use of new processor they payed dearly for, I know I wouldn't and will not intentionally downgrade my new system by using obsolete OS. Wonder what Linux will look like on it.

I'd put 10 on it myself over Linux as I like to use MS Word/Excel and sometimes play games. Neither are ideal on Linux.

Did you get a Ryzen? You were talking about it a while ago but it was too expensive in your country at the time IIRC...

MB and R5 1600x are on order, maybe in 10 days time. If I get MB first and 1600x is delayed, I'll grab 1600 (no x) because they are available now. In mean time I'm looking for RAM, there's still confusion which one works best with Ryzen.

Best not install 7 on it then

I believe (although I wasn't really paying attention) that the non-X OC just as well as the X ones (if that is your thing).
