I'm getting the same error on my Windows 10 Pro pc, too.
    Not too worried about it.
Windows Defender itself get's the updates.
On Wednesday I'll be getting the Creator Update anyway.

It still shows up in Windows Update on my pc and clicking on Retry does nothing. In Windows Defender itself it updates.
Wednesday, after I can get the Creators Update using Microsoft's Windows Upgrade Assistant, I'm gonna see if it let's me put it on a flash drive. If it does, I'll just waste 3 days doing a clean install of it and everything else I use.
As of Monday, I won't be using Windows Defender anymore. I've only been using it since Friday, as my Bitdefender Internet Security subscription expired.
I'm renewing it Monday when I get my disability money.

Through Bitdefender Internet Security itself, the renewal fee is $39.95. I have a email from them that gives it to me for $19.95. So, I'll be using the email for the lower price.
I'm in the process of getting 2 1TB ssd's for my pc, as my current 2 are almost out of room.
Each one will take until August to have, as each takes 2 months for the money.
It would be in July, but I can't get any parts then, as July goes for my dog's annual checkup, shots and registration.

    Same here on Win10 x64, errors 0x80070643 ,0x80246007 and 0x80240022 .
Windows Defender did not update either , I updated by downloading the Def.update on a MS-security-site.
Seems to be a fault by MS , coz when going back in time I got the same errors , very annoying.
With a little luck it wil dissappear after the Creator-Update !

I recommend Bitdefender free....same AV engine as the priced....I run it on a Surface Pro 4 plus three other computers.
Installed you won`t have to worry about a faulty Windows Defender.

ok, using WinDef for second opinian-scans , besides ESET.
Real-Time is not activated in WinDef, so they wont "bite" each other.
It always worked well untill yesterday ,when it did not update anymore, only downloading the signature-database is able to update the WinDef now.

I just got Bitdender Total Security 2017 for $19.99 from Bitdefender. I had the choice of either 3 products of theirs, so I opted for Total Security 2017, as my System Mechanic Standard expires next week. I saved money in the deal and all my software subscriptions aree good.
    System Mechanic Standard was uninstalled.
