It's at the top- slightly obscurely, I think 'Reset this page to defaults'
The web page shows it bottom right (older version I guess).

Thanks. I clicked it and got no indication that anything had happened. The WU pages still looks the same (i.e. wrong). Perhaps a restart is needed to I'll report back tomorrow. Bedtime is looming...
I'm making the (probably dangerous) assumption that's what it means and does (!!) - I've not tried it except I see the same as you.
I tried that in a simple case - add 'bat' to New in file explorer- it worked as expected in that case.
Otherwise use the details on the page referenced
How to disable Windows Update in Windows 10 RTM - Winaero
and reverse the change there (it gives GPO and registry options).
Well, nothing's changed overnight, I still have no power to change WU settings from the 'Update & Security' page. The Winaero Tweaker seems not to want to do anything on the Behaviour/WU page – clicking any of the buttons does nothing. I tested it on another Tweak (enable Aero Lite) and it did it with bells and whistles!
The only thing to have made a difference so far is TairikuOkami's command line instructions in post #5.
Even Group Policy doesn't work for me – I've enabled and configured 4 settings (see pic) which I think should give me full control but doesn't. It seems that the upgrade has done a really good job of retaining my Win7 policies. With fingers crossed, I'll ask you all for further suggestions. Otherwise, I may have to consider spending a day doing a clean install...
Thanks to everyone.
I have disabled WU by setting all connections as metered, and I will be notified of available updates via VBScript. I manually download updates from Microsoft Update Catalog
Using the Winaero tweaker in this case is a bit obscure.
1. Note the instruction to
a. click the option in Winaero tweaker
b. click Check for Updates in Settings.
2. To RESET the setting - something like
a. click Reset the page defaults
b. click Check for updates
c. click Set Windows to update and notify...
THEN the text changes to
Don't understand- you may need to try a couple of times. I did.
Or maybe the order is actually this:
1. Settings, Updates
2. Click 'Check for updates'
3. Click the relevant Winaero tweak button.
At my end, metered connections prevent WU from automatically checking for updates, so no updates will be found, downloaded, and installed.
