Windows Update Not working
Update @ 3/21/2017 1:01PM CST It finally started working. I'm not sure what worked though.
It all started with a USB device not recognized that I couldn't seem to solve, so I reset windows. Then it wouldn't boot correctly so I just gave up and did a clean install of Windows 10 Pro x64. Since then I can not get Windows Update to work correctly. It has installed three updates(KB2467173, KB4013418, and Security update for Flash), but now when checking for updates it finds some and looks like it's going to download them individually but they quickly disappear and it shows downloading updates and gets stuck at different percentages(see attached screenshot). I've let it sit like that for a few hours and nothing changes.
So far I've tried the following with no success:
sfc /scannow
chkdsk c: /r
ran windows update troubleshooter from the control panel
ran the downloaded windows update troubleshooter
turned off to download updates from my local network
Reset Windows again
- Ran the following commands at an elevated command prompt, hitting enter after each command
net stop bits
net stop wuauserv
net stop appidsvc
net stop cryptsvc
Ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.bak
Ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 catroot2.bak
net start bits
net start wuauserv
net start appidsvc
net start cryptsvc
I've been working at this for hours now and I'm about to lose my mind and would appreciate any help! Thank you.
