    Windows Update issues

On a fresh install of Windows 10 and I'm slowly adding back applications. One particular app required the .net framework installed and proceeded to download it half way through this I cancelled thinking I'd prefer to get it from MS directly as I didn't know where the app was getting it's version in case it was dodgy.

Then I found out that in Windows 10 I could enable the framework and it would be installed via settings. Hence I did this and it proceeded to download. Unfortunately the process failed mentioning a catastrophic error! Oh boy then I downloaded some utility from MS to troubleshoot WU and got nowhere. I rebooted a couple of times and WU still won't work reporting errors and to wait and try again later.

I've been here before and know I could spend hours or days trying to sort out silly stuff like this that should be more robust, so frustrating (like Windows 7/10 installs that either won't go into sleep mode or keep waking up, this has been a continual battle with small victories). So now I've ended up with restoring an image I luckily took with clonezilla and I'm back in business and have the framework installed.

But seriously why is WU so fragile, very disappointing I expected it to be more robust.

more than likely caused by you cancelling it in the first place.
Theres more than one process installing NF, depends on how far thru it got.

They do however provide a repair tool which might help OTHERS

In the heat of the moment only tried the WU repair tool which failed to do anything. I'm surprised when trying to install the Framework and it failed the OS didn't suggest to use the tool you've mentioned.
