It looks like you selected "MTP Device" instead of "MTP USB Device" at step 5.

The phone does not appear anywhere in Device Manager. I was hoping that

In your cases "Unknown device" would be your phone. :)

It looks like the driver for your phone is already properly installed.

Check using the tutorial below to see if it may help to ID what the "Unknown device" is.
