    Hi All,
    my take on this

The GUID 117cab2d-82b1-4b5a-a08c-4d62dbee7782 is not an update, its the service GUID that allows/verifies updates.
In this case its appearing as a REDIRICT from 9482F4B4-E343-43B6-B170-9A65BC822C77.

The question is why is it redirecting and then failing in the installer, in previous versions that error code related to an activated but not registered OS., the
Failed to retrieve SLS response data for service
Caller Service Recovery failed to opt in to service

error messages also seem to point in this direction.

I know that W10 authenticates differently, but as far as i know the error codes have not changed.

Kaltland can you zip the CBS log, (not the persistant ones) and post it please
see that it originally came with 8, did you just upgrade or clean install

    Hello all,
I have an issue with my WIndows Updates, I am getting error code 0x80040154 and all the sites I checked did not help.

I have tried everything to get it to the correct location without any luck.

SFC / DISM / ResetWUEeng / WinFixit / and the list goes on.

Does anybody have any suggestions. Thanks.
    Hi Kaltland
The above is taken from your opening request for assistance which indicated you had completed all admin command prompt fixes.

Having read all the offers of help from our extremely able members who did not read into what I read I can only suggest that you could have saved yourself a lot of pain and anguish if you had downloaded the ISO and reinstalled as suggested earlier.

Your choice....a good computer education or a nice squeaky clean computer in a little over half an hour.

    Dencal -
    I did a re-install from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

    I did a reset

and the last step I did was to factory reset, which took it back to windows 8 and then went to the above website and installed windows 10.

I am still getting the same error message.

Since the SFC & DISM is done and did not find anything. I am going to do a RESET and see if it will fix itself. Thanks for everybody's help.

Ok Kathleen, but if I read your posts correctly, you've already tried Reset and it didn't work. If reset fails again, your only other choice just might be a clean install, Windows will find your Windows Key, and will activate once clean install is finished. You will have to re-install all your personal programs thou. You could make backups of your personal files, likes pictures or anything else, you need to save. But all personal programs would need to be re-installed again.

    You need to clean install.
Click on link for a W10 ISO and download.
When done go to downloads, right click on link and choose MOUNT

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10
    Then follow instructions on screen
Skip when it ask for Windows Key as identification is already done when you downloaded the ISO.

    @kaltland

Kathleen. Mike and Dencal are correct. Please don't run yourself around in circles. Make copies of all your personal stuff on an external drive of some type. Either a detachable USB drive or Flash drive or DVD. Documents, pictures, whatever you have. Please follow that tutorial for a clean install. You have a 64-bit machine, so make sure you are downloading and creating your ISO 64-bit. The link and Media Creation Tool will prompt you for all this, and guide you in making the ISO media. You need to boot from it to install. Just follow the tutorial.

    Thanks for the logs
Its telling me its trying to mount 10Pro, and that theres an activation failure.

Have a look at this MS article.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...tivate-windows

Suspect a clean install will still have the same error
