Neat how you compress thoughts into one word.

No, I would like to say always. Moderation here and on our sister sites is par none.

Well, I finally got 1607 installed. But not with the installation disk alone. Everytime I tried to update with the optical disk, there was something the update didn't like about my system. So, I stuck my neck out and restored my HDD to factory specs from when I first received it from HP. Which left me in Windows 7.

I then ran the installation and it went through to completion. And it self activated. I am in the process of reinstalling some of the programs I use the most. Thanks to all who contributed to this thread. I could not have done it without you guys.

Glad you got it going OK. :)
It might be a good time to take a backup image of it in a 'clean' state, and file that backup for later use, so you could easily get back to where you are now.

Exactly what I did. Thank you so much for sticking with me on this.

BTW, I tried to click the "Mark as Solved" button, but it doesn't seem to do anything.

    Have a great day.
