Windows 10: Update vs new build

    Update vs new build

I'm confused about the new builds. This is the first time I have ever had an evaluation version such as Windows 10. Since I have 10 I'm surprised at the different builds. What is the difference between a major update such as a service pack that I'm used to seeing and the various builds as I see now?

Windows 10 is being built. It is not a finished product. Each Build is a "snapshot" of the current state of the software development, they create builds each and every day, however only some of those builds are released to us.

Think of it like building a house. You can go to the house each day and see the improvements and what's new since the last time you were there. With each new build there are a small number of changes as it progresses to the final version.

Thank you--you did a good job of explaining it to me.
