    Microsoft Account

The reason they do that is if the user replaces the motherboard or gets a new computer, they can log into their MS account on the new computer and transfer the license from the old computer to the new computer via the MS account... If he creates a MS account - or changes his login to a MS account, that digital license will attach itself to his MS account.
I've got about 6 PCs with Windows 10.
None of them use a Microsoft account at log on.
Two of them may be aware of my Microsoft account, via their forums.

Is there any advantage in telling the others?

Create a second user account and attach the second user account to a Microsoft Account so the digital license gets attached to the MS account as well as the hardware ID of the computer. You don't have to use that second user account for anything else, if you don't want to. But you will have to log into at least once on each computer.

I use a Microsoft Account on all my PC's. Mainly so I can sync settings and other info across all PC's. Being able to link my Digital License to my Microsoft ID doesn't factor into it for me. It's a nice feature but not why I do it.

How many of these people that you plan to tell, do you think will ever transfer their Windows 10 License to another PC? Unless they build their onw Desktop PC's, or buy a second hand PC that doesn't have Windows 10 on it, they will likely never do a transfer. Linking has no effect on the current Digital License tied to the device. You can reinstall that same version of Windows 10 on that device with a local account and it will activate with the Digital License. The linking only factors into it if you plan on moving that license from one device to another.

Some confusion, there are no "people" to tell, only computers.
