    Trouble manually checking for Windows updates


    Greetings all (smile).

    I'm trying to manually update windows, and I'm receiving an error message.

    "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070422)"

    Try running the Update troubleshooter. If you type "update trouble" into the Cortana/search box, you'll see an item entitled "Find and Fix Windows Update problems" come up that you can click and run. Another pathway: Control Panel --> Troubleshooting --> Fix problems with Windows update." If you're lucky, this will fix things; if not, there are other threads here that provide more profound fixes, most notably Windows Update - Reset in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums.

Windows 10 checking for updates taking forever

Only noticed this when already on Creator's Update. See: windows update - Streamable Windows Update Troubleshoot didn't solve anything. Any help would be appreciated.
I am currently using windows 7 64-bit. I downloaded windows 10 from the ms site (the automatic icon never appeared on my pc), and am using the media creation tool. All goes fine until 'Getting Updates', when it hangs on 'checking for updates'....
Came to check my secondary machine which usually remains locked but powered on and windows update said your device is up to date last checked 06/08/15 at 23:01, today is 12/08/15. Anyone else seeing this?
