You may have noticed my MVP badge is gone. I decided to not apply to be renewed this year. I'm good until July but I had Brink pull my badge anyway. I just don't like the way the "Insider" MVP program is being run, more like not run to be honest. Not all that happy with some of the things Microsoft is doing, and again not doing.

I brought up a few issues on Microsoft's private Yammer group, MAK keys getting a DL was one of them, and got no official replay from anybody at Microsoft. Just other MVP's saying really?

Look at that. I knew something was off when looking at your posts, but I could just not figure out what it was. --> THE MVP badge is missing. That explains.


I have a feeling that all limbs and tentacles are severed from each other, and none of them know anything of each other. The head is doing one thing and the rest are doing their separate individual things, not knowing anything of the others doings. Can easily happen in large corporations. The body is still there though, keeping it all somewhat together, so there's some hope left.

My biggest beef is the constant change just for the sake of change, and not tidying up the loose ends or making it more stable. Patch Tuesday seems more often than not to end up being crash Tuesday.
Anyway I'll let this go now. Once this delayed new build drops, I plan on doing another round of clean installs. 10 Home to start off. Then do upgrades to Pro etc via change product codes. I'll try the generic keys first. My PC's all have DL's for just about every Edition so the generic keys "should work". If I still have access to My Visual Studio Subscription (doesn't officially run out until July) I'll download the VL ISO and play with that. Start with Pro then move on to Education and Enterprise. I'll try the generic VL keys first. I want to see if I have to enter my MAK key to activate or if it will use the DL. I also want to see if Pro auto activates with the DL I already have. I don't think I ever activated Pro with my MAK key. I'm pretty sure I haven't but not 100% sure. I keep saying I should be keeping notes, lol. Maybe this time I'll actually do it. :)

@lx07 weird that they give you a MAK key for that? What's to stop you from using that key on more than one PC? I mean it is a Multiple Activation Key. I could be wrong, but my understanding is they can be used on multiple PC just like VL keys are.

Yep! It's a tangled web ....Having tested various MAK's the minimum activation count was 5 (IIRC)
