Digital Entitlement applicable for upgraded motherboard?

Am I correct that the Digital Entitlement allows me to upgrade my motherboard and still have a valid Win 10 installation?

That's what I surmise from reading posts on this?

I plan to upgrade my recording studio system.

My understanding is that the free upgrade to Windows 10 is tied to the motherboard that it was originally installed on.

Have you upgraded to the Anniversary Update and logging in with a Microsoft Account to link the digital license to your Microsoft Account? If yes, then you should be able to run the activation troubleshooter from the new installation and move the digital license over.

    From the troubleshooter you referenced.

"If you’re signed in using the correct Microsoft account, here are some additional reasons why you can’t reactivate Windows

    • The type of device you’re activating doesn’t match the type of device you linked to your digital license.
    • Windows was never activated on your device"

That's what I saw and was trying to confirm. Thanks
