I would return to running chkdsk which you didn't manage to complete... it's such a basic check on the integrity of your file structure.

If you have significant file corruption or chkdsk actually fails, you should run a check on your disk's SMART parameters.

Open an admin command prompt
sfc /scannow
and post the result summary

Wow- that's relatively unusual
So try the Windows update troubleshooter again, and see if it reports fewer problems now it's fixed some- or ideally none.
