Windows 10240: how to confirm update version?

I still have an old install of the initial version 10240. I would like to confirm that the CU actually has updated it. 'winver' only reveals Version 10.0 (Build 10240).
Where can I find the 'long' version like in 10240.17113 ?

In the registry I found that string here:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{5FDD51E2-A9D0-44CE-8C8D-162BA0C591A0}\

and many in this sub string:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\ComponentDetect

Settings, System, About should show that.

That works for the version 1511 and 1607 but not for the 10240 so I am back at square one.

Well, in 1607 opening a command prompt and typing SYSTEMINFO shows:

OS Name: Microsoft Windows 10 Home
    OS Version: 10.0.14393 N/A Build 14393

Gave similar level of detail in Win7, so should work in 10240 too.

Additional: just realised not quite enough detail for you though. You want to know the update(s) installed as well. That is also shown by systeminfo as a list of Hotfix(s) (with KB numbers) in order of instalation...

    Hotfix(s): 3 Hotfix(s) Installed.

Negative. In 10240 it does not show the Version # , just that it is Windows 10 pro/Home. neither the "about" nor the "system Info" show the version. The only way I can check the new version without getting in the registry is by checking the version of Edge.

Have you tried searching for a solution - even freeware utilities that give system info?

    Here's another possibility: Help About

Also look at your update history:

why would I install third party software (I know there is a lot out there) just to get the version of my install?? That does not make any sense.
Update history does not reveal the actual version# of the build but just which updates have been installed.
To recap one more time: this is about the initial install Version 10240, NOT 1511 or 1607.

I think it's time you tried a web search to find a solution. There are few here who will still have 10240.

You want information. If third party software gives it to you (where was this mentioned?) your problem is solved.
Or are you being so pedantic you will only accept a Windows only answer?

Now as to your update history:

systeminfo lists your updates. As does update history.
Therefore if you research yuor latest update, you may be able to get a build number.
    Example:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3081438

    Look through it carefully.

Yes it does, with a little bit of work. Look at the update history for the latest Cumulative Update. Google the KBnnnnn number to find the Microsoft Support page for that particular update. Note its release date then check it against this table.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Window...ersion_1507.29

or just look here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...update-history where all updates are listed, the most recent update being:
    September 13, 2016 — KB3185611 (OS Build 10240.17113)
