Tried multiple times to do Windows 10 Anniversary upgrade on desktop

I just joined this forum today, so I am brand new.

Both my desktop and laptop were Windows 7 systems that I successfully updated over a year ago to Windows 10.

The desktop never changed the version showing when I use the winver command - still Windows 10 Build 10240. The system was an upgraded desktop purchased on ebay from a company that refurbs and upgrades the computer.

I tried to upgrade both of them to the new Anniversary version of Windows 10. The laptop updated perfectly the first time. It is also a HP system. The laptop version shows 1607 OS Build 14393.82

I have not had any errors.

I am not a hardware person, so I spent a long time researching how to run reports to answer the questions for the System Specs. I am attaching the reports from SiSoftware Sandra and CPU-z in case I did not correctly report some of the details.

I hope that someone can help me.

If not, can you tell me if I explained this well enough to ask Microsoft for help? I am a bit intimidated by that.

Thank you so much in advance,

    Sally

Thank you for your reply, Samuria. I used the Microsoft Anniversary Update page every time. Never had an error of any kind. When I checked the version number it did not change on the desktop, but with the exact same page with the link the upgrade worked perfectly on my laptop. Very bizarre!

I had to help my niece with installing the Microsoft Office 365 for a class at school. We needed to use my husband's laptop that has Windows 7 because that product does not work with Windows 10. The support person made an appointment for me tomorrow afternoon to fix one more issue on that laptop, and he said that the agent that calls me can help with my Anniversary upgrade at the same call, for free. I am so excited!

I hope that I will have a good report to post here after the call.

    Take Care,

    Sally

Well, I am very disappointed. The tech from Microsoft told me that my computer was able to upgrade to Windows 10, but does not have enough drivers on my model to be upgraded to any new versions of 10. He showed me on the Hewlett Packard website that Windows 10 is not compatible with my hardware, even though the upgrade software told me that my system checked out. Grrrrr.
