It's up to you. You can keep wringing your hands and checking Windows Update everyday, or you can just download it and manually click on setup.exe and be done already.
I would rather it be delivered how it is intended, through WU. Just trying to figure out if I am alone in not receiving it yet or if there are others in the same situation.

I had to manually install on 2 computers. A third has not received the update as of yet. I am going to wait and see how long it takes to get the update.

Just got the AU on one of my laptops. Not sure if it made a difference but that is the one that came with Windows 10. My other computers were all updated to Win 10 and the AU has not been delivered to any of them. As for the AU itself, I hope this isn't a case of be careful what you wish for.

I haven't seen it yet in any of the 5 devices I have (me=desktop, two laptops, wife=two laptops) I force upgraded three of them, my two laptops and one of the wife's laptops. None of those had the upgrade waiting through WU, the remaining two computers as of today, still haven't shown up in WU.

Just a guess, but I'll bet there are many, many more that haven't seen it, than those that have. I'm in your camp bru, I would rather see things work as they should, the work iPad I have (soon to be returned) gets OS updates nearly every few months. A new OS update comes out before the company has vetted the previous update. Back OT, MS has made a mockery of updating their new OS, the Nov. update wouldn't work for me with WU, it had to be done with an iso. This update fails for some, doesn't show up for others, what a fiasco this whole "update the W10 OS" thing has become so far.

I'm not a programmer or OS code writer, but I don't see the need to do a huge update on a yearly basis, do smaller, more frequent updates that could just be like any other update Tue. with a few updates, computer reboots, and we go about our business.

OK, now I wonder if there is a problem. I am 100% sure that the AU was available to install on one laptop. The AU along with other updates were downloaded and I initiated the install. Only three updates were installed before it asked for a restart. It did not install the AU. After the restart it tells me the computer is up to date. When you go back and forth in Update & Security it manually checks for updates and it only found a Defender definition.

So what happened to the AU? It was there, it downloaded but didn't install, and now it is gone. Has it been pulled?

edit: I will add there were no error messages. WU worked fine, it just didn't install the AU that was downloaded.

Just seems to me that if Microsoft had not intended it to be installed via their website, they would not have put an Update Now link on their website:

I've had to do all our three computers manually.

I think some would rather just have Windows do it. No having to make choices, or maybe making the wrong choice, doing it manually. Just my 2 cents.

I suppose it goes back to "You can't please all of the people all of the time" because the other half of the population will complain "Microsoft forced me to upgrade and didn't give me any choice about it!"
