Wise... of course you can try it and roll back (within 10 days) if 1607 doesn't work for you, but if the update or roll back goes horribly wrong, you may be in tears regretting you hadn't started to use disk imaging routinely before the upgrade. (e.g. Macrium Reflect (free) ).
Pro users can defer upgrades of course.
So if I have Windows Update set to automatic is it just going to install it without giving me a choice? Don't think I want that to happen!
When it gets round to your turn, yes. My 'spare' laptop runs W7, but it also has a 'spare' HDD with W10 1511 on it. Yesterday I put the spare drive back in to check out a few on the differences between 1511 and 1607 - much to my surprise the AU appeared in WU. (Surprised, because at 1G the memory doesn't even meet the new 2G minimum specs) I quickly used wushowhide to put a stop to that!
PS: It was running 1511 Pro, so I could have used 'Defer updates', but AIUI that 'deferment' only postpones the inevitable for a couple of months.

...When you click the download link, you're prompted to open or save wushowhide.diagcab.
On Home you also need to go to the "advanced" page in windows update settings & make sure "notify to schedule restart" is selected. I think if you have it set to automatic (default) then you won't get a chance to use wushowhide before WU starts the upgrade.
Also, after hiding the upgrade it may take awhile for it to disappear from WU - i had 1 PC take a few days & another only a few hours
