    Windows 10 Insider Preview 14393 - Error 0x80240031


    I am trying to install the latest Insider Preview and I keep getting the error in the title. I have searched the internet to see if there is a solution. I tried SFC scan and it found corrupt files and corrected them. I ran this twice to make sure no other issues.

    I click the Retry and it acts like its downloading the file. It does the download sequence. It installs the first downloaded updates then it downloads more updates. Completes the download but remains on Downloading updates 100% for a long period of time then displays the error.

    I would appreciate any suggestions to correct this.

    Error 0x80240031


    This error occurs when the Windows upgrade file is in the wrong format.

    Resolution

    Download the Windows 10 ISO, and then upgrade to Windows 10 again.
    • If you're an MSDN subscriber, download the Windows 10 ISO from the MSDN subscription site.
    • If you're not an MSDN subscriber or aren't sure if you are, create the Windows 10 ISO manually by using the media creation tool. When you run the tool, select the Create installation media for another PC option.

    Being a preview you will need to create your own ISO though:

    Solved - Windows 10 Insider Preview 14393 - Error 0x80240031


    The problem is not wrong upgrade file. The problem was Windows Update had some issues. I ran the troubleshoot program on Windows Update and it found 4 problems; 2 in the registry and 2 with Windows Update. These were fixed by the Windows Update troubleshoot program. My system is now getting updated to Windows 10 Insider Preview 14393.

Got this "• th2_release Professional 10525 - Error 0x80240031" after download 100%. Tried downloading again with same result. Can't find any info on the web about what the problem is. Anyone have a suggestion? Thanks
