After I uninstall avast with the new uninstaller I will redo the previous actions. My question is whether or not the files previouly downloaded and used in the tests/actions are good or were they corrupted by Avast remnants? Do I need to download new ones?
It won't hurt to download fresh ones. Then you will have a known good starting point.

When you finish testing the Avast suggestion, make sure that you restart your machine.

Then if the issue persists, please return to the trouble shooting list in post# 89

I think there are three steps that remain; the WU troubleshooter, reset WU components, and manual WU reset.

I ran the Avast uninstall tool and thendownloaded a new install.wim file and reran the dism/restorehealth.The problem persisted (see sfcdetailB)sfcdetailsB.zip. I then ran the remainingthree steps in Post #89. Still the problem persists and added a newfailure to the update list (Windows Defender – KB2267602). I have attached a copy of the error notice. error codes.txt
It doesn't appear that this problem is solvable and I think I'm ready reformat.

Have you tried to do a Repair Windows yet?? This could repair your issues. Might be worth a shot tybee.

Just a quick question tybee, can you install other stuff, how much space is left on C:
I don't know your level of expertise with computers and this one popped in my head when i read your.post
A couple years ago, When i played WoW and poster had similar problems, and the Forum Admin / Moderator gave the same answer as always, and made him jump through hoops and do this and that, i read the post on the WoW Forums 2 weeks after he had posted his Dr. Watson and it was an easy spot not enough room left on C: for anything, no need to go into details but after i made the user aware of the low disk space problem "and the GM" well the user was happy got everything working again the GM well lets just say he was not happy with the fact i made him look like a "newbie".
So when you posted it stops at 30% my first thought was no room left on C:
Its properly not a low disk space problem but thought i would throw my 3 cents in. hope you get it fixed

Sorry for any missing sentence words and spell bloops my spelling goat is on vacation :)

RE: Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library

Go to control Panel>Programs and Features> Installed Programs
SelectVisual C++ and up top select REPAIR. See if that does anything.

    Then try the in-place repair.
Mount the ISO and run setup.exe from within your OS.

I've been looking at the Vivual C++'s and they don't have a 'repair' option, some have 'uninstall' and 'change', others have just the 'uninstall'. Some of the other programs have 'repair' but not the Visual C++.

I missed something when first running the "Manually reset Windows Updates via batch file" from Post #89. I thought that it ran but actually it didn't; it stopped with the error message "cannot reset windows update since 'windows update' (wuauserv) service failed to stop. Sorry I missed that but running it again, I saw the error message.
