The ISO files turned out to be >4GB so I couldn't copy them to a FAT32 USB stick. Is there a workaround?

Next I did a clean reboot, mounted the (desktop) ISO file and then ran setup using run as administrator, ...twice. But I still got the Setup couldn't start. Please reboot and do over.
Mount the ISO
navigate to sources
Open install.wim with 7-zip
Are there two indices (1 & 2)?
Index 1 is the Pro editionIndex 1 is the 64 bit source
Index 2 is the Home editionIndex 2 is the 32 bit source
of the bit depth you selected (32-bit or 64-bit)
Open the correct editionbit depthindex (1 or 2) inside 7-zip file manger
Select all
Copy to a new folder

I don't understand why this is happening - I have never seen this before!
Please see if you can run the in-place repair using Step #7 here:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - Windows 10 Forums
Try as in the tutorial, using the option to upgrade this pc, keeping all files and apps.
FYI: This method, using the media creation tool, is also the way to get a W10 ISO onto a USB stick - the tool will do that for you if you select create installation media for another pc. But please try Step #7 first, upgrading this pc.
EDIT: Or, Slartybart's method will work as well to get it on a USB flash drive.
Attempted Step 7 as suggested. I downloaded the Media Creation Tool onto my desktop then right clicked the icon and ran as administrator. It downloaded Win10, verified the download, created Win10 Media, and then up popped the WINDOWs icon just like previous 'run setup'. Then it stopped and displayed the error message that Setup could not start properly and to reboot and it again. Which I did only I switched over to my other admin account and tried from there. Same thing. Now I'll try to use the Media tool to create a USB stick.
The media tool had no problem loading Win 10 onto a USB stick [ESD-USB(f:)] but when I ran setup from the stick I got the same error message.
Command Prompt (Admin)
dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:E:\sources\install.wim /index:1
OR
dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:E:\sources\install.esd /index:1
Note: E is an example. Change it to the drive letter of your Thumbdrive.
Remind me - what edition of Win10 is on your machine (Home or Pro)
Try booting from the Thumbdrive
At the What type of installation do you want? window
Select Upgrade Install
I have win10 home. Since I'm doing this testing w/o an AV for which tests do I need to be on line and when can I be off line? How about the above test?
Ran dism get-wiminfo. Its mentions Win10 Pro?? Did get the wrong one? 22Jun dism get wiminfo.txt
Online/Offline - for most things, you can be disconnected from the internet, except for the obvious downloads.
Ok, lets see what you get with
Command Prompt (Admin)
dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:E:\sources\install.wim /index:2
OR
dism /get-wiminfo /wimfile:E:\sources\install.esd /index:2
You might get anything if there is no index:2 in the wim/esd
The install media is x64 - is your machine also x64 .. is the current install x64?
