    Windows 10 auto update help!!!

I woke up this morning to find my computer (Previously running windows 7 well) had automatically updated to windows 10? i did not authorize this update and it's actually messed up my computer. It wont allow me to connect to the internet or revert back to windows 7?! This is kind of ridiculous and invasive in my opinion, can anyone help me revert from windows 10 back to windows 7? I don't have my disk with me currently.

    Hi and welcome to Tenforums.
MS are getting very aggressive with their updating now, in anticipation of the one-year anniversary update. I use and like Windows 10, but I, too, find it invasive, the way they're doing this to systems. I received a call very similar to this today, from a friend asking for my help. Fortunately, I had setup his system with regular Macrium images, so his borked installation will be relatively easy to repair. You don't make images of your hard drive, do you? I hope you at least have all your important data backed up.

Probably the quickest way to get back to W7 is to invoke the OEM restore partition, (if you have an OEM-built system), but this will be a return to as it was the day you got it (all programs and data would be gone).

I'm sure others will chime in with other suggestions for you. Terribly sorry you have to go through this.

I am assuming that you have not deleted the windows.old from your C ( main ) drive.

Left click at the Start button at bottom left > left side, click Settings > select Update & Security > left side, click Recovery > right side, under Get back to ( Windows 7 or Previous build ), click the Get Started button.
That will start reverting your system back to Windows 7.
    Just follow the prompts.

After you are back to Windows 7, here is the unfinished business......................

How to stop Windows 7 from downloading Windows 10 automatically

There is a similar tutorial in our forums, but I can find it. So, use this one for now. It is just as good.

Thank you guys for your help however neither of those options worked...this update is acting more like a virus than anything, my computer is slower, some apps and processes won't even start or run. When I click on get started under go back to Windows 7, the wheel spins around the mouse for a second then disappears and nothing happens..

Is your computer come pre-installed with Win 7, or you installed Win 7 yourself ?

I built the computer about a year ago and specifically ordered Windows 7 because it was nice and simple, my install disk is currently lost :/

I don't know if the link below is applicable to your situation.
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/soft...nload/windows7

The site is for users of Windows 7 to download the iso files.
BUT, it only applies to Retail versions of Windows 7.

It will ask for your Win 7 product key right from the start. It will NOT accept pre-installed Win 7 product key.

Is this my last option? I don't have my serial code with me (or possibly at all, it was left at my parents house about a year ago).

    Hi.
Davidhk is right - if you have a W7 retail version key, you can get an ISO for reinstall.

But, if you're going to clean install, why not do it with W10? I have seen system after system upgraded from W7 with all kinds of problems, and a clean install of W10 fixed every one of them. Once your system has seen W10 installed and activated, you can reinstall as often as you like/need in the future.

Clean Install Windows 10 Directly without having to Upgrade First - Windows 10 Forums

    Tech Bench (ISO download W10)

To grab your W7 code, run this program:
    ShowKey Plus
