    Disk Activity

How do you stop the constant disk activity it is becoming a joke, every thing freezes until it stops.

How do you turn off updates, there must be a hack or something out there.

There is no hack, it is just an update setting. I found this to work well for me.

Hmm, thanks - I must have been asleep at the wheel. Thats what you get when you switch between 6 fora all the time.

Have a look at this tutorial :
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/8...a.html#option2

If you have Win 10 Pro, try Option One.
If you have Win 10 Home, try Option two.

Hey Auskart, you mentioned constant disk activity, do you get this only when updates are being installed? That's normal, until their finished and a restart is done...As WHS says you can defer the restart.
The updates generally don't take more than a few minutes, and then only a few times a month. Normal operating procedure and IMO necessary.
Are you having high activity other than when the updates are being downloaded? Need a little more info.
Why would you want to disable updates?

Hi, yes there is disk activity every couple of minutes, I have turned of indexing but still have the same problem, it only started about 2 or 3 weeks ago, there have been no new programs installed except for the win 10 updates.

First, its possible some of your system setting may have been reset with one of the updates. One that uses high cpu is the show me tips about windows. Go to settings>system>notifications and actions and turn off show me tips about windows.
Next go thru other settings in privacy and check whether anything has changed.
Let us know if it gets better

Been through all that, seems to be getting worse, even makes games freeze now when the disk activity starts.
