One more thing springs to mind and that was tweaking.com, which you used with some benefit with your original problem. I discovered it about the same time as you did, and it checked 2 systems of mine with no adverse effects, though I did notice a little speed increase in 1 system.

Step 2 - optional - pre scan - checks the Windows Packages Files for omissions or corruption - which SFC uses, and Reparse Points for corruption etc -the symlinks or junctions that Windows NTFS mostly uses for backwards compatibility for older installed programs, and finally that the environment variables are present and correct.

This Reparse points scan and fixer may solve your problem with the mount point.

In case you missed it Fafhrd, tweakings.com software is the cause of the problem that has been going on for a few pages.
I tested it too on a clean install where no problems were present, after running the software I had to clean reinstall all over again due to some time limits with the fact that some basic solutions didn't help.

This program deletes quite some stuff (some where I'm asking myself of if it should be deleted) and resets (can't confirm if it really resets) a lot of settings.
I have uploaded a zip some pages ago, provided by the OP to me for review before uploading because of privacy concerns (not necessary, but also not a problem if there are privacy concerns), that contains the logs of this program. You can check it to see what happens and why the Windows Resource Protection source is being corrupted.

No axe0, I didn't miss it. I know it is reported to break things by yourself.
Also I did not recommend running the repair Windows feature of tweakings.com, which you claim is the source of the above problem.

Please don't jump down my throat without reading what I have actually said.

I suggested using step 2 (Optional) to check, amongst other things, the Reparse points, and if required to fix the broken or corrupted links., and then gave links to various alternatives to work with Reparse points, if problematic.

I had downloaded the 3..12.2016_11.16.53-PM.zip, and glanced through the logs, but I'd like to know what you think the program did to RobH2's system to cause subsequent problems.

All I can see is that it ran DISM, and reported corruption of the component store.

Was it deleting all the files in the C:\Users\NVISIO~1\AppData\Local\Temp\ folder which caused the DISM error: 1392problem? Seems unlikely.

Windows 10 Recovery Tools - Bootable Rescue Disk

That ISO you downloaded from Tech Bench, if you have a flash drive available, use your 7-zip to copy all the files from that iso to a flash drive. Don't need to "burn" it, as long as your flash drive is Fat32 formatted. Just use 7-zip and copy all files inside that ISO to Flash drive. That program above, will find this and use the install.wim file on that flash drive.

If it' truly mounted, Rob, it should be showing in file explorer as a separate drive. In that case, it should just be a matter of right clicking on the drive and selecting "Eject".

1st on that link I gave you, its for the

Which is on page #2 not Kyhi's Bootable rescue disk, which is on 1st .....BUT you could download that app too, come to think of it Rob, then boot to it, and go to your mount folder, and delete it from the recuse disk. Just a another way to remove that folder.

I could be wrong Word Man but I believe its just a folder Rob made, for trying to run Dism command earlier.
