The whole Windows Installation will take ~20GB, third party softwares do not take much of disk space to install, most of them are in order of hundreds MB or less, few such as Adobe software will occupy 1,2 GB, that's all !!! so where is the rest of the space taken and that's what we need to look at.

On this point, we are talking about a user with a High End Computer, Custom built, with some expensive components.
I am only saying that spending 84 bucks to increase his C-Drive to give him even a faster SSD than the one he now has, is a no brainer for ME. Also user would not have to remove any programs that he has installed now. Plus give Rob plenty of room and keep his SSD lower than 75% capacity. Which would be good for the SSD. Also, Rob WANTS to get a larger SSD when he has the funds available. 120GB SSD's might be fine for the normal user, with a home computer, who is not making his living using his or her computer to make a living.....
Bottom line here ....we are only talking about spending 84 bucks. Not that big an investment, for better performance. :)

@simrick: Yes, good that Acrobat DC is working well now. Well, get your work done, and we'll deal with the DISM as soon as you're able.

Yes, but it didn't go easy. It was the autoupdater that was failing. I downloaded the patch and installed it manually and now it seems to be fine.

@topgundcp: I'm kind of siding with Mike on 76% full is a bit much for an SSD (even by today's longevity/service life standards) and think, considering what Rob uses this system for, a 250 GB SSD upgrade may be a very good investment - once he loosens up the cash needed for it.

I would like to increase the size of my main drive. At the time I bought them (I have two full SSDs and my other 4 are hybrids), 250SSDs had just come out and were $1000. I have 42GB available right now which is 35% of the total volume. I guess it boils down to headroom. 35% of 250GB is 162GB. That's a lot of headroom. I don't see how the size of the drive has anything to do with the frequency it gets written to. What I'd like to stop having to manage is a few Junctions. I have pointed the Windows/Installers folder to another drive. That sometimes inhibits an uninstall when a program doesn't like the junction for some reason. That folder alone is 15GB and would eat my C: headroom alive if I allowed it to. I'll upgrade here soon. Just need to get some projects going and invoiced.

@OldMike65: Also, we can't forget about Rob's Windows OS Still needs some repairs, as simrick has pointed out. Rob knows this also I believe.
We can try a couple different options when Rob is ready. I would try using the DISM repair using the Windows OS from Tech bench 1st .....Then if that doesn't work, a Repair Install. These are just ideas. :)

Update: Before I forget, as axe0 mentioned earlier, we should ask Rob if he has a program like Malwarebytes installed. Because maybe some of his problems were due to some kind of malware.... just another idea.

Yes, ran DISM once had it would not complete. Will need some assistance there and also help manually replacing the corrupt file we find. I do have Malwarebytes installed and keep it running. I don't suspect malware but you never know for sure until things inexplicably don't work. Yea, Autodesk and Adobe do like to use a lot of C: space. A few of my other 3d programs do also. I have a lot of software that most people would never have on their machines and a lot of it is heavy. So yes, it's a good suggestion to look at it and see what's gobbling up the space.

Finally, when I'm ready to tackle the DISM issue I assume it would be good to start a new thread, or, should we keep going here? This one is about to become unmanageable due to the number of posts that someone would have to read to understand our task here.

I have to agree with Topgun as I Have a LOT of respect for him!!! Always have, always will!!! He has helped me and lots of other lots of time in the past. I don't think we are arguing either. Ah yes, the pains of self-employment...deep cashflow swings. I have a home office and I'm either rich or broke and there's little in-between. I don't get that fat paycheck every two weeks like clockwork like most people. I can't just eat cereal for a few days and wait for the new check to use to buy stuff...lol... I overspent building this new machine out of necessity. My previous i7-3960X gave up the ghost about 3 weeks ago (after 4 hard years of 24/7 service) requiring that I build a new one. I didn't quite have the budget I needed to build this new monster but had to. I had a larger SSD on the list but had to nix that and 32GB more ram that I'll need. So yes, in the scope of the world, $84 seems insignificant. But when you are waiting for clients to send checks that take 30/60/90 days to arrive, some penny pinching has to occur. Those upgrades will come but not today.

I understand 100% Rob and agree with your statement. :) Besides we still have to get your Windows 10 running without any errors too. That should be the 1st thing we do anyhow. You can upgrade your SSD anytime. :)

When you are ready we can finish with repairing those errors right here Rob, no need to start another thread, at least I don't think so. You will just need to have your Windows ISO handy. Hopefully you still have it. 1 question on that Windows ISO is which place did you download the ISO from Rob, Tech Bench by any chance??? If so that's the one we will use to repair your Windows using the Dism command ....1st. hopefully that will work. Just need to know where and which windows iso you have. :)

Yes, I keep everything and yes it was TechBench, per your (if I recall) suggestion posts and post ago. I'll let you know when I have some time. Hopefully this week unless something breaks and I come back in triage mode.

What is the reason for making the folder "mount" on users desktop ...AFTER they copy "install.wim" to their desktop??

Some folks got confused, and put the install.wim file IN the mount folder, instead of leaving it on their desktop.
Their are several different ways to do this, I know, but I like your method better, for some this works, others still seem to have problems. So, thought I would ask you. :)
