Windows 10: Windows takes two hours to boot every reboot. Goes to spinning circles
Yes, I believe we did do the in-place repair. I did run CHKDSK three days ago for another issue and it was fine. I can do it again now.
Actually that's what I was thinking ....chkdsk c: /F just to see if it finds errors simrick.
When you ran chkdsk, did it ask you to reboot ??
I have to search on the errors yet - hold tight.
CHKDSK finished with no errors. I ran it in 'read-only' mode as I was working on something. i hope that a "no error" report is still valid from 'read-only.' If not I can finish what I'm doing and run it again using '/F'.
Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems.
No further action is required.

Most of the time running chkdsk SHOULD reboot computer and THEN it runs .... not sure just how reliable your method was.
chkdsk c: /f should have been tried. But, simrick is checking on your errors.
Like I said...it should have.
Ok, I'll try it in just a bit. Had something rendering that I could not interrupt. Trying to kill two birds....you know...
Rob, did you run it from Properties of the drive or from command prompt?
I have win 10 x64 on a Dell XPS 8700. It had Win 8.1. Been on Win 10 since release. Today my son went to reboot the computer and at boot, just got spinning dots. He turned it off, same thing. Got to a diagnostic and it said it could not repair....
Alright so after long hours of research I have narrowed down y problem.

So yesterday I installed some updates on my computer, however when it was rebooting it sat there for about an hour doing nothing. Eventually I force turned it off and tried to reboot it, however it kept doing the same thing. I looked up...
So, I've encountered this issue lately where Windows 10 takes considerably longer to boot than before. (Usually 4 to 5 minutes) It used to boot under 30 seconds before so I don't know what went wrong here.
So, the screen with the Windows logo...
I installed Windows 10 fairly quickly on my laptop, and firlgured it'd be just as painfree to do so on my desktop, but the install was stuck at 'Copying files - 48%' for hours. I figured that since it was just copying files, I would just restart the...
