    Windows Update Error Code 0x8024002e

I have had quite a lot of problems trying to get Windows Update to work. I first noticed it when I couldn't get Windows Defender to update and realized that Windows Update didn't work. I've tried a number of recommended actions (Windows Update Troubleshooter, Reset_Reregister_Windows_Update_Components.bat), but nothing seems to be clearing up the problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

Is the Windows update service disabled?
    or
There might be a malware that is blocking WU

I'm sure that there's some kind of virus in the computer, but every scan that I run shows nothing. I've run McAfee, Spybot and Windows Security, but they don't detect anything. I get a message like:

    Windows Update Error Code 0x8024002e-2016_01_22_14_21_471.png

So I'm dealing with that problem too. Apparently, I've had this update problem for quite some time. I switch to Windows 10 late last summer and when I go to see the history of Windows update it doesn't show any updates ever. I'm at a loss as to what to do about this virus when everything I try doesn't "see" it. Any thoughts>

I suspect that is the root cause of problem.
    Malwarebytes | Free Anti-Malware Detection

Run the free version and check if it finds some sort of malware. If it does, then remove them.

I did run the recommended programs and there were quite a few files/cookies that the software removed and I don't seem to be getting the same problems, but Windows will still not update.

I went through the procedure to reset windows updates and it looked like it was successful (there were a lot of lines of actions that showed up but they went by too fast to write them down). I checked to see if Windows Update was running and it was, but I still get the error 0x8024002e when I try to update Windows.
