As you've already gotten a pass from sfc /scannow, you may want to take a more direct route to getting the iso by downloading directly from Tech Bench: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/techbench

Make sure you select the correct version edition of iso for download:

Just wondered why knowing version was relevant?

Perhaps concentrate on helping the OP instead of making "expert" comments on others who tried to help is more relevant ?

Guys, really sorry about this but I really should have mentioned that I have veracrypt installed with the system drive encrypted and my D and E drives whole disk encrypted. I guess this changes things?! Sorry!

    Ut-Oh!

OK, well, that's definitely gotten out of my bailiwick!

I couldn't suggest anything other than decrypting everything and going from there - but that's only due to my inexperience with that kind of system and vague knowledge regarding the complications that disk encryption can bring.

I've had whole disk encryption for years with WIndows 7 and Windows 8 and I never had a problem until now.

That's a good thing as far as your past experience. I can only hope you'll get good advice here and now in that more complicated context.

I have absolutely no experience in disk encryption.
Does it take long to do that ?
If not , why not decrypt and see if problem solved ?

Win 10 is a new design. It might not behave the same way as Win 7 and Win 8.
