Is this a picture of the in-place upgrade procedure using the ISO from MSTechBench? It says "keep apps and files"; it does not say "formatting your partition". Formatting would show up as an option if you were installing from boot. But I don't see where it says "keep your settings", like it does in the video. Are you sure you downloaded the correct ISO?
Go to 04:35 in the video, looks the same to me.

EDIT: What are the possibilities of just decrypting the C:\ drive before doing the upgrade, since everything else will be disconnected? I don't know the ramifications of this, since I don't use this software. Perhaps that might break some link between the C:\ drive and the other ones?
I could try that but I don't want my system screwed up and I've never had to do this for Windows Updates before and I've been encrypting my system for years now since Win 7. My Documents are on the D drive.

Did some more searching on the veracrypt forum and it seems I've found my answer here, you were right! VeraCrypt - View Issue Windows 10 version 1511, build 10586 update fail:

It is this specific Windows update that seems to disable filter drivers used for on the fly encryption and if Windows was encrypted using TrueCrypt, it would have failed too. There is nothing magical in TrueCrypt driver that would have prevented this.

Microsoft is doing something nasty in the update installer. VeraCrypt driver is working as expected but this installer clearly blocks it during the process of updating the system. By doing this, Microsoft is breaking FDE software other than Bitlocker and Microsoft partners ones.

What is the best way to report this to Microsoft? Obviously, on VeraCrypt, we are lacking man power to investigate further such deep kernel blocking by the update installer.

This is what I did to solve.

Changed account from Standard to Administrator.
    Decrypted System Volume
Tried Windows Update, it sat there at Downloading 0% for hours.
    Updated using the TestBench ISO.
    Re-encrypted the system volume

    All good, but a PITA.

Looks like you still need to update your Windows 10, as your winver shows older version. this is the correct version your winver should be showing you.

Excellent. But as @OldMike65 says, you still have some minor revisions to go...
    Glad you got it sorted!

I would use the Feedback app to search for similar reports and "upvote" them, or report this yourself.

Tried again a few hours later. Why is this OS so unpredictable, or is it just me?
