You'd have to get the ISO, mount it or extract it.

Go to an administrator command prompt and change the directory to wherever setup.exe (from the ISO you downloaded) is.

Then you can enter the command
    Code:
    start /Wait SETUP.EXE /Auto Upgrade /Quiet /NoReboot /DynamicUpdate Disable /Compat ScanOnly
    echo %errorlevel%
Then you'll see the return code as described saying if it found any issues with upgrading.

It still might just be easier to run the setup immediately though as if it does fail you can then post the upgrade logs and they will say exactly what driver it had a problem with.

You might also want to make a image backup BEFORE upgrading your OS. You could use any good backup program to do this. Lots of folks use Macrium Reflect free version. Or any good image program that you prefer. I would not trust using Windows backup thou. This way if something goes wrong with your upgrade, you can restore your original OS back, on your computer. Even if say a week or two goes by, and you decide you want to go back to your old OS. Keep your image backup in a safe place, NOT on your C drive. I always tell folks to backup......1st......:)

Are you running as administrator? The 2 commands should be separate also.

The first one (start /wait etc) performs the compatibility check (it takes a while), the second one (echo %errorlevel%) displays the result.

As you see (my setup.exe was root of E:\ drive) I got a result of -1047526898 which is C190 020E in hex which according to the TechNet link means "No issues found". That is to be expected as I'm running 10 anyway....

In any case, why not make a backup as @OldMike65 said and then just run the upgrade? You have everything in place and only need to double click on setup.exe. Then you'll definitely know if the upgrade works

I noticed you downloaded English international by the way. That is for UK English (en-GB) not US - hopefully it is what you want.

183? You should have got a huge negative number
    No issues found: 0xC1900210
•Compatibility issues found (hard block): 0xC1900208
•Migration choice (auto upgrade) not available (probably the wrong SKU or architecture)· 0xC1900204
•Does not meet system requirements for Windows 10: 0xC1900200
    •Insufficient free disk space: 0xC190020E

(You’ll see these return codes as large negative numbers, but they are much easier to look at in hex.)

Ok i restarted the computer in case my previous opening of setup.exe was causing the issue.

Now when i type the command nothing seems to happen, as in it keeps trying to execute it and i cant type anything because of it. i ve waited like 5 minutes and still nothing.

is it supposed to take so long? Before it didnt take any time at all, i was immediately after typing it able to type something else again.

I am the administrator, and cmd clearly says so at top. And this is the second time i tried that after the restart.

It took 5 or 10 minutes for me (not sure exactly as I wasn't watching it all the time but I also thought it wasn't working) - let it run.

How can i learn what exactly is causing the compatibility issue?

You should have 2 files setupact.log and setuperr.log. Probably in C:\Windows but perhaps in C:\Windows\Panther.

See if you can find some created today when you ran the command. You can open them in Notepad or something. Mine just says this in the activity one and the error one is empty...
    Code:
2016-01-08 13:47:39, Info UI Determining whether we should run ConX or legacy setup
2016-01-08 13:47:39, Info UI Will launch ConX setup experience
2016-01-08 13:47:39, Info UI Launching ConX setup experience
    2016-01-08 13:47:39, Info UI Launching E:\x64\Sources\SetupPrep.exe /Auto Upgrade /Quiet /NoReboot /DynamicUpdate Disable /Compat ScanOnly
With a bit of luck yours will say what it thinks it has a problem with.

Feel free to upload them if you like (I don't think they contain anything personal but you might want to check)
