    1511 10586 update

    Hi all,

I have a Samsung Laptop which has Windows 7 Home edition on it. I have upgraded it to the Windows 10 Home and all is fine. Windows now informs me that an upgrade version 1511, 10586 is ready to update so I clicked check for udates and it says click to download, which it has, then it says click to install, so I clicked install it then tries to install the new update but keeps on reverting to click RETRY. I have looked for advice on here and I have downloaded a .bat update resetting file, performed this and restarted my laptop. I then tried to check for updates and it finds the same update version 1511, 10586, I then run the install again, but the same thing keeps happening all the time, cant work this out at all.

    Regards

    Alan

    Suggestion :
Use one of the following 2 download links, download the ISO file and do an in-place upgrade install.

    Media Creation Tool (MCT)
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/soft...load/windows10

    Tech Bench
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/softw...load/techbench

Download the ISO file > right click at the iso > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
You can keep the settings, files and apps.
    No product key needed.
    Activation is automatic.

    Hi David,
Thanks for your response to my problem, don't know if your links are for trying to upgrade win 7 64bit to win 10 64bit. But as I have said I already have upgraded to to win 10 home 64 bit, but there is suppose to be another newer version 1511, 10586 is the problem I am having. I tried those links you said but still no joy with the update installation.

    Many thanks

    Alan

The links are for the most recent W10 10586, that's how I ended up doing the upgrade by using the instructions quoted below. Like you, windows update was failing every time for me.

Just to be clear, here is how I understand your situation......................

You had a Win 7 upgraded to Windows 10. That version should be 10240.
You then received a notification of a new version available.
That version is, supposedly, version 10586.
You tried to do the update through Windows Update but failed.
Bottom line : you have not been able to update your Win 10 version to 10586.

Do I get it right ?
If yes, then the links I gave you is to install version 10586.

Use the MCT link I gave you > download the Tool and run it > select Create installation media for another PC
That will begin downloading the ISO file to your computer.
When download is completed, RIGHT click at the iso file > click Mount > click Setup.exe.
    That will begin installation.
You have the choice to keep your settings, files and apps, or choose to keep nothing.
    No product key is required.
    Activation will be automatic.

"Bit fo a same = Bit of a shame? havdng = having? to repost" IDK, but that sounds kinda right.
