Then you have 2 options left:
- Do a system Restore and go back when your updates worked.
- Do a repair install, which keeps everything and reinstalls Windows.
I can provide you steps for the second one

Make sure you follow all the steps in the right order, restart and then try Win updates again.
Also, when you try to stop msiserver it might already be not running, as it was for me. In that case, just move on to the next steps.
Hey Smizack, If you already tried the solutions above and none of it solved your problem (except restoring), please try enable all services in msconfig>services.
btw, I also have the same problem and I also tried the solutions that were suggested above and all of it did not work then I remembered that I disabled some services in msconfig>services. After I enabling it, the windows update worked :)
