Mike - It is an overwhelming mess. I scanned, not read.
Right now, I am still too annoyed to accept more TWEAKING. I rather complain.
Thank you for your quick response. I am sure you gave me some great information.

First - with Classic Search- do I uninstall and reinstall it? (I had removed all win apps with Power Shell, so "permanent" is meaningless when the MS team want you to have something that YOU don't want.) So, I want them GONE.
Sorry no idea what you mean by this "Classic Search" program. You can install 3rd party search programs, if you choose too.

Secondly - I upgraded to Win 10 in January (2016). Wasn't the AU for an earlier beta test? I was not an early user, so are we talking about the same thing? I had build 10586. I now have #1607.

I know what an anniversary is, but people were talking about the AU before most of us had it?

Cumulative Updates in May (5/14) broke my computer for 20+ days (BSODs 2 x a day) and I had a minor glitch in April.
We got the BSODS to stop, but I never really repaired my computer until I then spent 35 days restoring my computer.
Long story short. I tried for a clean installed over June and July. Ended up with another "upgrade."

I do not think that this is "perfectly normal" but I am reacting more emotionally than logically. Today, for the FIRST time since last year, I think my HP printer is finally interacting with my laptop as it should and printing in the correct color.
HP is another program I installed two dozen (not an exaggeration) times. It was W10 the entire time - and I kept having corrupted installs.

Altogether, I have been fighting with Win10 creeping into Win 7 and overtaking my system (by choice) since November 2015. This is too much crap for one year.

I am sure I will have more questions.

    Thank you.
The Windows Anniversary Update was not released until Aug 2nd. (last month) They were people beta testing it before the final release for months using the insider builds.
Yes we have lots of people on here that have joined the Insider program, and were beta testing the AU long before anyone else had it. But it was not released to the public until Aug 2nd of 2016. :)

Classic Search makes Win Search look like Win 7/8 or XP. I was really wondering why, even though it was installed, the W10 search was restored on top of it. It seems forced.

I also said (a little ironically and in fewer words) - that I know that an anniversary commends an event. "Insider build" were the words that escaped me - but I was trying to ascertain if we were all talking about the same thing. We are. Thank you.

Because many of you joined the Club, we all get to benefit from your great experience.

I still sound a little testy (to myself), but it's not intentionally directed to all of you.
MS reversed more Privacy Settings and re-enabled Geolocation Services. That's evil.

    Thank you.

Well I did explain it to you in my 1st post to you yesterday. Think you were to upset to read my post. :)
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update REMOVED any changes that you did before you installed the AU. That includes your Classic Search app too. All you have to do now is restore the apps that Windows Anniversary Update removed, we all had to do this, so you are not alone. Your Windows 10 should be on version 1607 Build # 14393.187 <--- IF you are up to date.
Just type Winver in your command prompt admin to check your version and build number.

I'm not convinced cancelling some changes is not an evil choice. After all, why doing this ? It's not like MS didn't try to shove up our ***** a few things in the past, no matter we want it or not, such as Windows 10 precisely, or having an MS account instead of a local account. Plus, only some changes have been cancelled, not all changes. Cortana is back as well as some privacy-leaking settings, why those ?

Congratulations MS, you've made me suspicious...

MS have a virtual world monopoly. It would not surprise me if someone had already designed a replacement but MS bought up the patents.

    Mike,

You are right; I was too upset. After my shower, I feel better.

Yes, I understand the order (remove & add) now.
I have to fix Win and I have to fix Outlook, so I'm putting them off until ...winter.
I am accumulating fixes that can wait and then I'll go to work.

I have more apps to remove than restore. My post showed that.
It's too bad that there are a lot of us who have/had to do this. I could look at it as being reassuring, but I won't.

Yep - my version is up to date.
As past is prologue, I truly hope this update didn't knock off the finally 100% working HP software. (Then I will split a gut.)

    Thank you.

There is a program to that might help you remove or add your Store apps. I don't know how good it is, as I have not tried it yet.

Its a free program. Just thought I would mention it to you. My Outlook in Office 2013 is fine, Windows update did not affect it.
As far as your HP apps, if you mean the ones that come with a new HP computer, I deleted most of mine myself, as I consider them bloatware. Also can even slow down the computers boot up time.
    Take care, Mike.

    NovHak,

Too many people don't know how to protect and maintain their computers, so restoring programs is not inherently evil. It's evil to reverse privacy settings. This update regime isn't better for us, but some people need to be forced to install updates.

Yes, of course MS continues to shove - I noticed they tightened up their local account, where instead of having a pause before I have to login again at outlook.com, I'm immediately knocked out when I log out of Win forums. They also added this "great" feature in same outlook.com account where they chose a specific email and moved it into Calendar. I don't use their bloody calendar for my personal email and will never. In dot com email, after I select an email to read, that stupid message (check here if you want to always select the first email to open) pops up every time - and it takes about 15 seconds to open the mail that I've chosen. Apparently they're blatantly scanning all emails to determine which email to move into Calendar.

Privacy settings - "why those?" Because those are the ones about which MS is particularly concerned.

    elbmek - Re MS Monopoly

Open Office is still an option, but I have not read the specs since early this century.
More and other email programs offer the ability to hook up an Outlook account. Maybe there are feasible options to Office Outlook - if there is, I'll let you all know.

    Mike,

I will check out your suggestion. It should be a quick fix. Thank you.

Re HP - it's Solution Center. I have a home office.
    I send many faxes.
I use it to confirm copies were sent or received.
I have no other useless HP apps (buy me now? check for useless HP updates?).

It wasn't just the Solution Center, though. The biggest problem was that I couldn't tell my computer to print.
It was not just via SC, but I couldn't print from internet, any docs, a shipping label, etc.

Thank you for going there, though. You never know.

    Take care, yourself. Thank you.

I too am having problems with the latest update. My computer screen is now of a Lenovo laptop instead of my HP desktop. My 1password will not work even after enabling the extension in Google Chrome. My favorites seem to have been imported from the laptop. My bookmarks bar has numerous websites notes when previously it only had "imported from IE and other bookmarks." I'm almost 70, any help would be greatly appreciated.
