Can't install windows 10 update (KB3116869)

I have windows 10 Pro but not Windows 10 Pro version 1511.
windows 10 has tried 5 times to install Cumulative Update for Windows 10 for x64-based Systems (KB3116869) and has failed 5 times. is there anything I can?
I downloaded windows 10 pro version 1511. can this be used to upgrade my windows 10 pro? if so, will it damage anything I already have in my current windows?

Hi John,

Yes you can manually update using the download. Make sure it is the same language edition and just install and it will activate, you do not need to enter a product key, just skip that part.

Make sure you choose to keep all your programs and files.
