It will show up under Programs and Features ONLY if it was installed successfully.
You said that yourself......AFTER being installed successfully it DOES show installed successfully in our Programs and feature screen.

And I said if it was NOT installed successfully, it will NOT show up in Programs and Features.
Seems to me we are in agreement on that. Are we ?

Not EVERYONE was successful using the cmd method.
Sorry but NO we are NOT in agreement on WHAT YOU said. What you said was. "If Update History shows it has failed to install, then don't waste you time going to Programs and Features > View installed updates." <------!!!!!!!
What I am saying is, it will show in update history as failed to install, BUT, even thou under that screen, it will show failed, under the Programs and Features screen it WILL show that is WAS installed successfully!!! Telling people to not waste their time looking under the Programs and feature menu, if it showed failed under the update screens was giving the wrong information.
If the user ran the cmd line correctly, IT did install with no problems, period!

So, what does that really mean ?
Is the update installed successful or not ?
Which one is to be believed. The Update History in Windows Update , or the View Installed Updates in Programs and Features.

So, the cmd method is not needed, unless users do not get the update offered to them from Windows Update.

There was once a few months ago that an update asked to be restarted to complete the install but never stopped asking for restart.
Gabriel Aul finally said that if it showed up in Programs and Features, then it was installed, and just ignore about the request to restart.

That was the ONLY time I saw an update showed up in Programs and Features while it was supposedly not installed "completely".

I can show you 5 or 6 failed updates from my updates menu. You just don't understand this process at all, it seems. When you do use the cmd line to install this update, and you enter the command correctly, from your command prompt, after it completes
david, it also will show you that it completed said command SUCCESSFULLY. Then just to recheck, you can look at your programs and features menu, and it will also SHOW Installed. The cmd line WORKS. and works quite well.

Big difference it seems, cause after the user does install this update using the cmd, and it reports back to the user that the command completed successfully, if the user then goes back to look for update screen, windows will finally tell the user, no new updates......
