    Hi all,

I have fixed Error 0x80070643 for the Update for Windows 10 Version 1511 for x64-based Systems (KB3122947) by running the following in the admin cmd:

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download\c4a1b8896ce9fbfea96c1ee6890d52a5\windows10.0-kb3122947-x64.cab
Thank you - this worked for me. I didn't have a problem with the Silverlight update.

Did you first make sure the .cab file actually exists where it's supposed to and then run Command Prompt "as administrator"?
Yes. Even downloaded it from a link here and tried it that way. Still no dice. Now I have more updates, which refuse to install, again. With the same error code 0x800706d9.

EDIT: I found out from some searching that this error relates to Windows Firewall. I read another Windows 10 user's post on one of these many 0x800706d9 threads on the Microsoft site that the fix is to re-enable Windows Firewall in Services. Right-click it, select Properties, set startup to Automatic, and click Start. You should be able to update now.

It took a week, but today all three of my computers say they are "up to date" and the troublesome KB3122947 update is nowhere to be found. Not installed, but not pending installation either.

Have any of the rest of you who waited this out found the same? I am hesitant to mark this Solved on a single experience.

I think it is to me, the OP, to say whether it is solved. I think it is and would like to see this thread go into history

Just ran Windows Update and that obnoxious KB3122947 has gone Poof! It doesn't show as an installed update, but it does show up about five million times as "Failed to install on . . . " this date and that date over and over and over.

I said I would be hesitant to mark it Solved, didn't I? So find out if it solved, and if so, mark it!

Seems like others are discovering what I did a few hours ago. Part of the problem is that those who took the command line solution won't really know. It is the rest of us who decided to wait for Microsoft to do what they were obligated to do who will really be glad to see the thread closed.

That update seems to be fine on my Win10 Pro with an AMD CPU and my Win10 Home with an Intel Core i5 CPU.
