    @OldMike65

I got the error during the installation of this update. So I tried the command line solution given by the user Sildur: dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Your\Path\Here\filename.cab ( It is the first person who gave this solution on this forum.... see post #39 KB3122947 1511 update - anybody else get this? - Page 4 - Windows 10 Forums) and its worked very well. The update does not appear in my Windows Update log, but is present in my list of Windows Update.KB3122947 1511 update - anybody else get this?-3122947.jpg

I can show you 5 or 6 failed updates from my updates menu. You just don't understand this process at all, it seems. When you do use the cmd line to install this update, and you enter the command correctly, from your command prompt, after it completes
david, it also will show you that it completed said command SUCCESSFULLY. Then just to recheck, you can look at your programs and features menu, and it will also SHOW Installed. The cmd line WORKS. and works quite well.
I do not read it that way.

He did not mentioned using the cmd method. He just showed it listed in Programs and Features.

Thank you for spending your time to explain. We are not going anywhere with this. So, let's put it to rest.

Yes Shamlan that is correct, Also after putting in that command from your command prompt, after completed it will also report that it was successful, so we have TWO ways to verify that kb3122947 WAS installed successfully. :)

So, what does that really mean ?
Is the update installed successful or not ?
Which one is to be believed. The Update History in Windows Update , or the View Installed Updates in Programs and Features.
if you installed this update with command line (dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\Your\Path\Here\filename.cab) ... The update will appear not in your windows update log history but it is properly installed if you see it in your update list.

The Windows update log is the file C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\DataStore\DataStore.edb.
This file is updated only with Windows Update tool... not when you use the command line to install update

Big difference it seems, cause after the user does install this update using the cmd, and it reports back to the user that the command completed successfully, if the user then goes back to look for update screen, windows will finally tell the user, no new updates......
I am not talking about using the cmd method.
I am saying if it failed to update then it would not show up in Programs and Features.
After successful install using the cmd method, of course it will show up in Programs and Features. But that was not in my initial statement.

    Ok. I'll stop now.
Thank you for reading my posts and explaining to me.

Told you it showed you TWICE that it was installed......once in the command window AND also shows installed under your programs and features menu......how many times does windows have to show you it was installed???
Bottom line, its INSTALLED. Ok??? WoW :)

If I understand well, you had an update fail and even without using the command line, Windows saying that the update was installed??

Sorry, I haven't read the whole history of the conversation. My fault...
I took a little too much alcohol this weekend... I'm not there at 100%
I made a mistake in responding. It is not to you that the message would have to be intended
    I apologize for this misunderstanding.
