    Updates not installing


    I am running V1511 OS10586.14 (installed from USB via Media Creation Tool) Updates, mainly for Antivirus definitions are downloading but are not installing. They show up in C;Windows/SoftwareDistribution/Downloads, but will not actually install. I have tried deleting the download file and they will load again, but not install. Obviously I have checked that the system is set to automatically download and install updates. I have run the System Fle checker utility and all passed no problems. The only update that has installed correctly was KB3103688 that was installed just after the new OS was installed. A virus def downloaded at the time, showed as installing for a short time and then literally vanished from the screen.
    I should add I had the same problems with 10586.3. The current antivirus def installed is 1.211.1040.0 and I have just downloaded 1.211.1050.0 - which loaded to the downloads folder, showed as installing and is not showing as an installed update.
    What gives?

    They don't show as installed anymore if you look in the windows update > advanced options > View your update history. You can see the latest version installed with the update tab in windows Defender.

    thank you John ...and so they do. However, that has only happened in the last two builds as they always used to show in view installed updates. Cant say I recall seeing any reference to that change. Now since installing this version, I have noticed MS has changed how my Start works so need to go sort out that issue now. Many thanks tho

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I just realized that KB4023057 has installed itself 3 times--November and December, 2018, and January 2019. KB4100347 has installed twice: once on January 29 and again today. Why would that be?

I've disabled Windows update in services but if enabled again it just goes on its merry way and updates I don't know what. Is there a way to see the available updates and manually install only those which you want/need and not those that may cause...

I just tried to download and install a update for this tech preview but it will not install. It I am getting the error code 0x80246017. Anyone have any idea what this error code is pointing towards?
