I did as you said and restarted my Laptop but when i retried the update it still keeps getting stuck at 0% so i checked the $WINDOWS~BT folder and it was at 59 MB. Since 1% of the 3 GB update should be around 30-50 mb it should be displaying 1% but it's at 0%. Is Windows Update by any chance capable of Resuming Downloads even when you get disconnected for a very long time provided you don't shut down your device?
OK don't worry about your $WINDOWS ~ BT folder for now. Forget about Windows update and use the MCT link here it should be less crowded (server wise ) than the Microsoft update servers it will fix the $WINDOWS ~ BT folder and likely clean it out and re install the 59 MB in there or use what is there already .

If you have Firefox that's a very good browser to start the long download with ,it's very good with large downloads but you can use IE 11 or Chrome as well .

The MCT will download and install Windows 10 10586.3 for you . You can use the upgrade now option or download an ISO file or USB file . I've used the upgrade now option on 2 PC's no problems with it.

Took about 6 hours to update after the download. I have lots of programs (140+) and it's a laptop.

Took about the same time to upgrade from 8.1 to 10 as I recall. Look in task manager to see if update is running.

Seriously, why does Microsoft not show you how big these downloads are anymore? Is it 5kb, or 5GB, I would like to know.

7 x64 licence upgraded the i7 workstation configuration to 10586.3 here yesterday with a clean install upgrade now option from the MCT . It went smooth download took maybe 40 min. for ~ 3.6 GB I figure . No issues with the production software ,editors VST plugins and outboard HDWE getting re authorized and up and running . Windows 10 brought a nice ~8-15 ms latency improvement on the production side and DX 12 and better frame rates for the 1080p ultra dGPU gaming .

I've been downloading the new Win 10 update for 45 mins. but it's still at 0%. What's the file size for this update? if anyone here has already updated to version 1511, 10586 i would like to ask how long did it take for the download to finish and the installation process duration. My Internet is at 100-300kbps.
Any estimate on how long this would take?
I have downloaded on my Desktop PC Windows 10 Pro 1511 build 10586 update yesterday and it took me me more than 12 hours on my slow connection (ISP) of 192 kbps. This update installs like a fresh Setup file as if you are installing a fresh copy of OS.

It is a new OS build like an older service pack in a way and not an update and if you clean install ( instead of in place update /upgrade ) it's a fresh new OS ,either way it's a new Windows 10 operating system version aka Windows 10 1511 - 10586.3 th2 that replaced Windows 10 10520 th1 (or whatever you had ) altogether ☻

Sure it could be depending on what version ,file and or language packs you downloaded and the % compression used the size can vary .
I've seen it all the way from ~2.93 GB up to 3.1 -3.6 GB in my c:\ $WINDOWS ~BT folders so far. ☻☻
