    Missing Programs, Features and documents.

    Hi All,

I installed windows 10 around 1 month ago, and last week when I logged into my computer, ALL my files, programs etc. where missing.

I managed to find them deep in the C:, users, name, Microsoft etc under recent items and put them all back into the correct folders.

I come into work this Monday and ALL of the documents, files etc. had disappeared again. I located them in the same folder but this time it would not let me open the files saying (this short cut refers to has been changed or moved so this short cut will no longer work properly) and all the files and documents I had created the week before had disappeared and not even in this folder.

Also, I had uninstalled programs the week before and they where re installed onto my computer.

There is no available dates for the computer to set back too.

I am in real trouble as this is my business computer and my whole lifes work is on there and it would set me back years.

Could someone please help with a solution, remote log-in to my computer etc. to sort this as I could potentially loose everything business wise.

I am willing to pay £ for your help.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hi George,

note that it would be ideal to stop using that harddisk. Every writing access to that disc will reduce chances of recovery, should your files have been deleted. If I should guess, from what you write, I fear your files might have been deleted by Windows.

For the removed programs, which suddenly are back again, I cannot explain that. It is possible to produce such kind of situation by doing a system restore. However, a system restore does not happen all by itself. Apart from that a system restore would keep user files ontouched - at least as long as they are kept at appropriate locations.

The Recent Items folder normally does not contain actual files, but it only contains shortcuts pointing to your files. Are there still some of the broken shortcuts in that folder? When you look at these shortcuts, please do a right click on some of them, then for each select "Properties", "Shortcut" and then have a look at the field "Target". Like so: http://cdn9.howtogeek.com/wp-content...2/sshot271.png

What does it tell you in these fields?
