    Windows 10 won't update after factory re-install

    Hello all,

Today I had to do a reinstall to fix some things (it didn't fix them lol) so now I'm stuck. Windows 10 will not update. I get the error code 0x80240442 after a while. I'm not sure if its an issue with my drivers not being updated, but all of the web pages I have found that have this error code won't open. Not even the Microsoft pages, including hotmail. I searched this forum for an answer (because it was the only one that opened) and the only thread I found didn't come to a conclusion. So here I am, asking if somebody can help me solve this.

    Thanks in advance.

    Edit:
Under Advanced Options and Update History, there have been no updates.

Hi read this link it may help you

windows update error on windows 10 10074 - Microsoft Community

If you cant open the link this is what was posted

•Reboot your computer a few times.
    •Try again periodically
You may try these steps to reset the Windows update components manually and check.

    a. Press Windows key + X on the desktop screen of the computer.
    b. Select Command Prompt (Admin)
    c. On the open Command Prompt window copy and paste the commands (all at once).
    net stop wuauserv
    net stop cryptSvc
    net stop bits
    net stop msiserver
    ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
    ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old
    net start wuauserv
    net start cryptSvc
    net start bits
    net start msiserver
    pause

    c. Exit the command prompt and check.

    Other things you can try:
◦Disable (preferrably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before attempting the upgrade.
◦Restart a few times and try again.
◦Disable General USB Devices (example - Smart Card Reader).
◦Do a clean boot and try again.
◦If you are upgrading using the .ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during setup, if you are connected by LAN (Ethernet) or Wi-Fi, disable both and attempt setup again.
◦If you are updating through Windows Update, when the download reaches 100% disconnect from the Internet LAN (Ethernet) or Wi-Fi and proceed with the installation.
◦If that does not work, try using the .ISO file to upgrade if possible. (not possible with this build)
◦If you are connected to a domain, switch to a local account
◦If you have any external devices attached to the machine, disconnect them (example, USB keys, gaming controllers, external hard disc, printers, non-essential devices).
