Wiping HP partition would get rid of backup for Windows 7, but not sure if will or would work anyway if do a custom clean install and keep that partition. Have no discs, no going back to Windows 7. After 30 days of having the upgrade you can not roll back to Windows 7. Most people will make a system image with software called Macrium reflect before doing the upgrade to Windows 10. If you are not concerned about ever going back to Win7 you can just delete all partitions till you see all unallocated space on all drives.
Select Drive 0 to install Windows 10. Not sure how many others drives you have besides the one with OS and HP recovery.

Yes, not as easy this way, but similar on phone, in person always the easiest.

To do a clean install on a a leagcy/MBR PC, laptop HP?

Make sure the boot order is USB and/or DVD drive first. For HP it is usually F10 when booting. Also, if your BIOS supports UEFI, make sure that legacy boot is enabled.

After boot order is set, insert your Win 10 usb, or DVD ISO, and restart. Press the ESC key to choose how to boot. If UEFI (which is the default for win 10 install) is present, choose the non UEFI boot. The fresh install should then be allowed on the partition you select in the win 10 install menu.
