Clean install of Windows 10
I read in this forum that if I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 10 that all I would have to do would be to make up a bootable medium that would contain the windows 10 software and on rebooting the system Windows 10 would be cleanly installed .
Of course what I read was that you had to first to the windows upgrade that was there for all of us that was running activated versions of Win7/8 etc..
Well - my question here is that I am at a point where I have that bootable software ready to install windows 10 which will delete everything on the drive when it does this. And at this point it is asking for the activation code. The registration numbers...
I went to my .../system location and with a right click up came my system data. Which happened to include my Product ID: xxxxx:xxxxx:xxxxx;xxxxx . I took this info and tried to install windows 10 and to put that Product ID number in at the point where it was asking for the registration key. And it was ignored.
So - do I have to do that? Or will the installation of this windows 10 software on top of the existing upgrade, be enough?
