Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool not downloading

Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for Windows 8, 8.1, 10 and Windows Server 2012, 2012 R2 x64 Edition - September 2015 (KB890830) is not downloading. Update has been stuck at 3% since 9/9/2015. Cumulative Updates for Win 10 Pro were downloaded and successfully installed on the aforementioned date, after restart. Anybody facing the same problem? Suggestions are welcome. Screenshot has been attached for evidence.

I had the same problem. It was stuck on 55% for days, for windows 10. But yesterday it downloaded, and also another update that would not download, downloaded.I did not do anything,so Microsoft must have sorted it.

Go to Microsoft Download Center, Malicious Software Removal Tool and manually download it, then see if it stops trying to download on your system. Make sure you get the right architecture(32 bit or x64).

The download finally finished by itself last night. But I haven't been able to install the program. "Failed to install" message shows up, each time I try to install it. I'm running AVG Internet Security on my Win. 10, licensed up to Feb. 2018. I also have a Malwarebytes Antimalware program whose license will expire in about 10 days. Do I still need to worry about this thing? or will the two Antivirus/Antimalware programs that I already have, suffice?

Sorry so late on the reply. I just got home from work.

The MRT is downloaded and run once a month automatically. For real protection and double checking your 2 are enough. What MRT is & does you can read here.
